Our story has always remained in Minehead, however it dates back around 70 years. Francis James took over Brown's Jewellers circa. 1948 after the war and this is where the business began its journey as we know it today.
Based in The Parade, Minehead, Francis James later took on his son, Peter James, and the business became Francis James & Son. However, sadly around the early 1990's Francis passed away leaving the business to his son Peter who ran the business for some years and relocated down to The Avenue, Minehead. After Peters unfortunate decease in 2012, his wife Samantha James took on the business and remains the director to this day. Together with their son Tom James as our in-house repairer, we are proud to still be a family business.
As a small family jewellers in a seaside town our ethos has always been the same. We pride ourselves on good old fashioned service. We will always go out of our way and to the end of the earth to make sure that our customers are satisfied as after all, its them who allow us to who we are as a business. Jewellery has always been sentimental and personal, so it's our people who matter to us most.
We offer a range of high quality antique and modern contemporary jewellery such as rings, necklaces and pendants, bangles, bracelets and earrings in silver, gold and platinum and also hold a pre-loved 2nd hand display. On top of this we are also official stockists of Casio, Lorus, Rotary and Seiko watches, wall clocks and mantle/alarm clocks. As our people matter to us the most we make sure to always have something for everyone ranging from the lower end to the higher end.
As service is at the center of our ethos, we have taken the decision to remain as a working jewellers to this day offering a range of jewellery repair, alteration and bespoke design services with many being carried out on the premises at an affordable cost. We also buy scrap gold and offer valuation services.
